The Ankeny band program begins in fifth grade. All students have the opportunity to start a band instrument.
Fifth-grade band will begin in late August or early September. Students will be assigned to lesson groups of like instruments.
Band lessons meet once per 6-day cycle for 30 minutes. The lessons are scheduled during the school day on a rotating
basis. Large group band practices will begin in late September. Large group band meets before school at 7:15-8:00
AM twice per 6-day cycle. Each band will perform two evening concerts during the year.
5th Grade Band Spring Concert Schedule:
Westwood: May 1 at 6:00 PM in the Westwood Gym (Band & Vocal)
Northwest: May 6 at 6:30 PM in the Northwest Gym
Terrace: May 20 at 6:30 PM in the Parkview Gym (Band, Vocal, & Awards)
